Dernæst et stykke papir hen over.
Man monterer desnæst filten.
Good evening,
I write to you from France, and I apologize for not speaking correctly English …. and even less Danish.
At first, I wanted to tell you that your website is a real treat for all slot machine lovers. I take a lot of pleasure to go there regularly and I think we already communicated together a few years ago.
I wanted to intervene on your restoration of the French “spirale à bille” and in particular on the track that you made in felt.
For your information, it was not felt that was used at the time, it was silk velvet. Silk velvet is no longer manufactured, however I know a person who has recovered a small stock from a former Lyonnaise silk and sells some copies on ebay :

If you use felt the result will be disappointing. On the other hand with velvet, you will have realized a self-catering restoration with the good taste French! I wish you a good continuation and congratulations for your quality work!
Hi Richard. Thanks for the feedback and the links.
You’re absolutely right. Felt is the wrong material for this kind of machine. We ended up not using felt for the very same reason. We actually used a striped silky velvet type fabric (not sure what it’s called – which is why I call it “felt” in the article). It is a bit similar to the fabric you’re linking to. So hopefully it meets the approval of our french counterparts :)
Thank you very much for visiting our website and for the kind words.
We actually just finished the machine:
